I must write before I forget! It's so easy to take small, seemingly insignificant events for granted until you remember how they make you smile. I have had a few moments like this that I am recording for memory purposes.
- Kailey and Parker were recently running and jumping in my living room trying to see who could "tag" the ceiling fan chain. (Keep in mind, Kailey is almost 5 feet tall and Parker is almost 4 feet tall). Apparently this was not a deterrent for Parker. I'm sure he really thought he could reach the chain! Anyway, as earlier predicted, someone got hurt! Kailey and Parker collided with Kailey's hand coming down hard on Parker's head with a loud yelp. From Parker you might think? No! It was Kailey. Her hand turned red and started to swell, and Parker's hard head was sore but he quickly recovered. We took the hand in to be x-rayed and found that it wasn't broken. What a relief....until dad got a hold of the x-ray picture and magnified it to find 2 hairline fractures in the metacarpals!! After one week of using it, Kailey got her brace and wrap so now she is officially a one-armed teenager!
- Parker has cute moments every day that make me smile. I think its his age. He is very comfortable with who he is, as demonstrated by his outfit for school yesterday. We spiked his hair with mousse and called it a "faux hawk", put him in his black winter coat, and as he got out of the car at school, very matter-of-fact-ly put on his mirrored sunglasses and walked down the sidewalk toward his friends. What a great smile he brought to not only my face but his teachers face also.
- Caden has always been affectionately referred to as our "bottomless pit". I don't know where all that food goes! He eats most things and rarely complains. So, you can imagine my surprise when he refused my "speckled pancakes". One big pancake just for the big boy, slightly flavored with bits of teflon that are slowly flaking off the pan. Needless to say, the pan is being retired and replaced, with many memories of its service to our family.

It is so good to see your family (in pictures) and hear how you are doing. I love cute stories about kids. Please keep up the blog, it makes home feel mnot so far away!
