After going to San Diego for our 25th wedding anniversary last year and having so much fun, Thad and I decided to go back with the kids (and the rest of our extended family) this year.
There is so much to see and do, there is no way to cram it all in in the five short days we were there, but here are the highlights... starting with the ZOO!
I forgot to mention that we brought
a few of our own animals with us!
And then drew pictures of them.

What do you get when you cross a ZEBRA with a GIRAFFE?
Something that looks like this.
It's called an Okapi.
Although the okapi bears striped markings reminiscent of zebras,
it is most closely related to the giraffe.
This is Bamboo -
otherwise known as Panda food.
Pandas spend 12 hours a day eating up to 86 pounds of bamboo each day.
Can you spot these animals?
They are camouflaged.
Click on them to get a better view.
BIG turtle......Little turtle
This picture of Caden shows his apprehension,
and cautious nature around things that are large and unfamiliar...
And this picture of Parker demonstrates how he tackles things
that are large and unfamiliar.
Just like in a photo booth...except with a SEA LION.
READY?
SET?
GO!
RELEASE THE MACAWS!
We happened to be in the right place at the right time to see these beautiful birds
fly to the bird stadium they've been trained to go to.
