Niagara Falls and Downtown Toronto

Trip to Toronto, Canada

The above picture is downtown Toronto from a park on the other side of Lake Ontario.

Traveling across the country and back in three days is not the recommended way to see the sights, however, we made the best of our short trip!

After flying, waiting, flying, and waiting again as several things delays are travel, we finally arrived at our hotel in Toronto 18 hours after leaving our home Friday morning, June 6th. Wow! The Minneapolis airport is a sight! I felt like we were in a mall, not an airport.
The purpose for our trip was a chiropractic seminar to learn new things for the practice. Fighting fatigue made staying awake very difficult, but Thad persisted! I wimped out and skipped the afternoon session to take a long nap.

Saturday night we did some sight seeing in downtown Toronto and went to dinner in a well-hidden, dimly lit, steak and seafood restaurant where all the people around us were speaking French! (I should have paid more attention in class). The food was great and the sights were incredible. In a lot of ways Toronto looks like any other city in the states. We didn't feel like we were in another country.

The seminar continued the next day, which I again skipped. We decided to skip the afternoon session all together (Thad already got more than he needed from the doctors presentation), and we wanted to see Niagara Falls before we had to be at the airport.

We made it to Niagara on the Canada side and found the falls to be very impressive. We took some great pictures and the sights around the falls were impressive as well. We would've loved to spend a couple of days in this area, but we made the most of our time.

Getting across the border wasn't a big deal, we didn't even have to show our birth certificates. We just told the guy we had them, he checked out our driver's licenses and waved us on through. It's a good thing, because if we would have gotten stuck in Canada, grandma's fears would have been realized and she would've been raising three little kids!! Whew!

Parker's Graduation

It's official! Parker is no longer in kindergarten. He was so excited to be "done", that is until we told him that he only has 12 more years to go!! Can you believe he is in the graduating class of 2020?? That seems like such a long time away. I know it will go quickly.

His school is the first of its kind in our school district. He attends a dual language school where Spanish is spoken 80% of the time. His class is made up of 50% Spanish speaking children and 50% English speaking children. He does his reading, writing, and math all in Spanish. They say by the time he is in 5th grade he will be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking in BOTH languages. So far, he is on track. He received the highest grade he could on his IRI exams in both languages.
