Presenting....The Oakland Temple

This temple holds a special place in our hearts, and it was wonderful to take the kids and visit the grounds. With the overcast sky providing perfect light, our pictures turned out beautifully!

Palm trees are found throughout the bay area,
so the temple designers incorporated them into the landscape.
It is the only temple built with a modern 5-spire design and exhibits an Oriental motif.

On the north and south faces of the temple are two decorative friezes, and is the last temple to have such. The back (south side) is a depiction of Christ descending from heaven to the people of the American continent soon after his resurrection in the Holy Land.
The front (north side) illustrates Christ preaching His gospel to his twelve apostles.

The roof terrace makes pictures like this possible.

All the temple grounds I've been to are decorated with an amazing display of flowers.
Oakland was no exception. I think I could've taken pictures of 100 different varieties.

I had to get a picture of the kids by this water fountain.
It was 15 years ago I took a picture of Erica at this same fountain.

We found the same peace on these grounds today
that we found many years ago!
